3 Powerful Tips for Profiting from Recession

As you might imagine, I've been asked a lot of questions lately that really boil down to "how do you make money in 'this' economy?"

My answer is always the same...

The same exact way you make money in *any* "economy"!

It's that simple. :-)

Personally, I think it's a *HUGE* mistake to change what you're doing every single time the financial wind blows, just as I think it's a *HUGE* mistake to chase after "fads" and/or the latest "hot trends". With any of these, the same exact thing usually ends up happening. Just about the time *you* figure out what "it" is and how to "profit" from it, it's over with and once again you're in the "wrong" business or profession.

That being said...

In my opinion, the best way to "profit" from this so-called "recession" is to learn from it and apply its lessons in such a way as to never again be adversely affected by one.

To that end...

Here are three powerful tips for profiting from "recession":

Powerful Tip #1 - Choose the *ONE* business or profession you want to be in.

When you think of Bill Gates, what do you think of?

Software, right?

When you think of Warren Buffet, what do you think of?

Investments, right?

When you think of Michael Dell, what do you think of?

Computers, right?

When you think of Donald Trump, what do you think of?

Real estate, right?

When you think of Sam Walton, what do you think of?

Discount stores, right?

When you think of J. K. Rowling, what do you think of?

Books, right?

When you think of Ray Kroc, what do you think of?

Fast food, right?

When you think of Wayne Huizenga, what do you think of?

Garbage, right?

When you think of Oprah Winfrey, what do you think of?

Television, right?

When you think of Tiger Woods, what do you think of?

Golf, right?

Besides having "a lot" of money, what do *all* these "rich" folks have in common?

Simple...

They *ALL* made their "money", at least initially, in *ONE* business or profession, the *ONE* business or profession they most wanted to be in, and they stayed in that *ONE* business or profession regardless of what the "economy" was or wasn't doing at any given time.

Need I say more? :-)

Powerful Tip #2 - Avoid speculation and debt.

There's an old saying in the stock market that goes something like this:

"The best way to make money in the stock market is not to lose any money in it."

Well...

Along the same line...

In my opinion...

The best way to profit from a "recession" is to avoid being leveled by one.

If you stop and think about it, there are essentially two groups of people who bore the brunt of the most recent financial "panic":

1. Those who gambled (which, unless you know *exactly* what you're doing is what it really boils down to) in something they knew absolutely nothing about (but, unfortunately, thought they did), usually in one of the financial markets and/or real estate.

2. Those who lived on credit.

My advice?

Simple...

Don't you be one of them! :-)

Powerful Tip #3 - Develop multiple sources of revenue within your chosen business or profession.

If you have only one source of revenue from your chosen business or profession (a "job", for example) and that source of revenue dramatically decreases or suddenly comes to a dead stop...

To put it bluntly...

You're screwed! :-)

Whereas...

If you have multiple sources of revenue within your chosen business or profession and one or more of those sources dramatically decreases or suddenly comes to a dead stop...

Though it may be an annoyance or inconvenience...

It's no big deal...

As you still have income coming in from your other sources of revenue.

Just as there's more than one way to "skin a cat", as they say, there's more than one way to make money in *ANY* business or profession.

Your job, if you *really* want to profit from this so-called "recession", is to find and develop them.

In closing, I'd like to leave you with this passage from an editorial Elizabeth Towne, publisher of Wallace D. Wattles' classic masterpiece The Science of Getting Rich, wrote in the very early part of the last century commenting on what was the most recent financial "panic" of her day at the time:

"It is the man who lives on margins that goes down in the bad-times waves."

"While the man who deals out real benefits for the dollars he collects; who lives within his means; who banks where it is solidest, not where wild cats and high interest rates coax, and associates with those who do likewise, finds himself standing on the rocks watching the wreckage of credit schemes whirled by and down on the bad-times tides."

That was true over one hundred years ago...

And it's still true today! :-)

Wallace D. Wattles on the Promise of the "Certain Way"

"You may be the poorest man on the continent, and be deeply in debt; you may have neither friends, influence, nor resources; but if you begin to do things in this way, you must infallibly begin to get rich, for like causes must produce like effects."

- Wallace D. Wattles, The Science of Getting Rich

A Reader's Questions Answered

Tony Mase here...

As you may know, a few months back, I sent an email to my customers and Constructive Science Newsletter subscribers asking them for the most "burning question" they had, related to the writings of Wallace D. Wattles and/or the subjects he wrote about, that they'd like to see me answer in an upcoming Constructive Science Newsletter article.

One reader asked me several rather interesting questions that, for one reason or another, don't quite "lend" themselves to an article, but, as I know they're important to the person who asked them and I'm sure other readers have the same or similar questions as well, I want to take the time to answer them.

Here they are:

"Hi Tony,"

"First, thanks for the opportunity to ask a question. I think it's great that you give everyone a chance to find answers. This has been bugging me since I'd first watched The Secret."

"Understanding how the human mind works and as Wallace D. Wattles said to 'act in a certain way'... it behooves me regarding that certain way. In other words, is it possible for the way a person thinks to be too varied from others who have been successful and those who are not?"

"Wallace D. Wattles also speaks of giving. Most people who were brought up with religious backgrounds know that tithing to others can only be a good thing. Especially if we believe in the endeavors of that organization we give to."

"I have seriously noticed when I give to churches, I've gotten nothing in return. So, it must be true that when we give we must give with a joyful heart. Many times I've given to a Christian organization or the so-called miracle churches, under their assumption that if I didn't Satan would have his way with me, and the only way out was to give to them. I gave, but did so with a heavy heart and in fear that if I didn't, I would not have any blessings."

"How far can things like this go? We can live in fear, or we can live in faith, but we cannot do both at the same time. It's just like I'm giving expecting to receive 10, 20, or 30 fold, as they state, but seeing no result. For that part, however, my money is used up... my life is stuck... and I'm very discouraged. Things began to happen, then I fell dead in the water and without success."

"According to the gurus of The Secret, we can have anything we want, as long as we don't want it; or in other words, as long as we don't need it. If a person looks at that with logic, that doesn't make sense. The power brokers that 'hid' the secret wanted the power for themselves and that was selfish, but they got it even though they didn't need it, and they were being sadistic."

"Can you sort of explain why, when people are in need, that even the best intentions can be 'deleted' by that need? It's like the universe can read deeper into our subconscious, no matter how hard we try to reverse it. Suffice it to say, that no matter how hard I try to release and let go of the 'need' part, it seems to creep in. Financially, I cannot buy anything else right now. I can't even give where I would like to give, with joy, and that saddens me. How do I get around that?"

You're welcome. :-)

First of all...

And this may come as an absolute shock to some...

Let me start out by saying...

I haven't heard, read, and/or seen "The Secret" nor, based on the voluminous amount of questions and comments I've received on it, do I have any desire to do so.

That being said...

"... Wallace D. Wattles said to 'act in a certain way'... it behooves me regarding that certain way. In other words, is it possible for the way a person thinks to be too varied from others who have been successful and those who are not?"

I'm not 100% sure I understand your question here, but let me say this...

Thinking and acting in a/the "certain way", as Wallace D. Wattles refered to it in his latter writings, doesn't in any way necessitate your thinking and acting in the same exact way someone or anyone else does/did who's getting/gotten what they want (Wallace D. Wattles' definition of "success").

It necessitates your thinking and acting in a way that'll get *YOU* what *YOU* want, based on what's *TRULY* important to *YOU* and what *YOU* *REALLY* want.

That "way" essentially boiling down your to being *REAL* clear about what you want and then directing *ALL* your thoughts and actions towards its attainment.

"Wallace D. Wattles also speaks of giving."

He did, but *NOT* in the way you're referring to giving...

"... I'm giving expecting to receive 10, 20, or 30 fold, as they state, but seeing no result."

That doesn't surprise me in the least. :-)

Nowhere...

Repeat...

NOWHERE...

In his writings...

At least not that I know of...

Did Wallace D. Wattles *EVER* say *ANYTHING* about "giving" *ANYTHING" to *ANYONE* and "expecting" to "receive" a 10, 20, 30, or any other fold "increase".

As a matter of fact...

He said quite the contrary. :-)

What Wallace D. Wattles *DID* say on "giving" was this (from The Science of Getting Rich):

"Give every man more in use value than you take from him in cash value; then you are adding to the life of the world by every business transaction."

That's it!

And therein lies your "ticket", if you will, to "getting rich".

Now...

Am I saying you shouldn't help support a particular church or other organization?

Not at all!

Let's take a look at something else Wallace D. Wattles wrote (from Your Attitude Toward Those Opposed to Your Beliefs, the tenth of fifteen articles in his Lessons in Constructive Science series):

"If you feel that the church ministers to your personal needs, by all means help support it..."

In other words...

In my opinion...

If a church, or any other organization for that matter, is in line with your thinking and "ministers" to *YOUR* personal needs (in other words it in some way helps you and/or you personally benefit from it), then, by all means you *should* help support it...

To do otherwise is to take something for nothing.

But...

To do so because you believe somehow God is going to magically bless you for doing so and/or you're going the "hell" if you don't isn't "constructive" of the end you seek.

I personally know several good, honest, well-meaning folks who ran themselves right to the "poor house" buying into that belief.

Oh yeah...

I guess maybe their "hearts" weren't "joyful" enough...

Or...

Their "faith" wasn't "strong" enough...

When they "gave". :-)

With that bit of sarcasm (not directed toward you! :-))...

To answer your question...

"How far can things like this go?"

Only as far as you allow them to. :-)

"... we can have anything we want, as long as we don't want it; or in other words, as long as we don't need it."

Buying into just this kind of "psycho-babble", as I like to refer it, is *EXACTLY* what stands between many folks who read Wallace D. Wattles' writings and their getting what they want.

Here's the deal...

Right from the "horse's mouth", so to speak (from Unity With the Things You Want, one of the finest things Wallace D. Wattles ever wrote, in my opinion, the eighth of fifteen articles he wrote in his Lessons in Constructive Science series):

"... you receive the things with which you mentally unite yourself. When you mentally unite yourself with a thing which you desire, you will receive that thing; and when you mentally unite yourself with a thing which you do not desire, you will receive that thing. When desirable things come into your life, it is because you have been in mental unity with them, and when undesirable things come, it is for the same reason."

Nothing there (or anywhere else in Wallace D. Wattles' writings for that matter) is there *ANYTHING* about "need" or lack thereof, is there?

So...

"Can you sort of explain why, when people are in need, that even the best intentions can be 'deleted' by that need?"

"Need" has little, if anything, to do with your getting what you want, PERIOD!

Again...

"... you receive the things with which you mentally unite yourself. When you mentally unite yourself with a thing which you desire, you will receive that thing; and when you mentally unite yourself with a thing which you do not desire, you will receive that thing. When desirable things come into your life, it is because you have been in mental unity with them, and when undesirable things come, it is for the same reason."

It's that simple. :-)

Speaking of the "horse"...

And I don't mean this to offend you...

I mean it to help you...

Your questions remind me of something else Wallace D. Wattles wrote (from The Science of Getting Rich):

"Others still are poor because, while they have some notion of science, they have become so swamped and lost in the maze of metaphysical and occult theories that they do not know which road to take. They try a mixture of many systems and fail in all."

That's *EXACTLY* what you're doing...

You're trying a mixture of many "systems" and failing in them *ALL*!

Now...

I can empathize with you because...

That's *EXACTLY* what I was doing most of my life....

Trying a mixture of many "systems" and failing in them *ALL*...

Miserably, I might add! :-)

So...

"Financially, I cannot buy anything else right now."

You don't need to...

"I can't even give where I would like to give, with joy, and that saddens me."

If you're beating your head against a wall and it "hurts"...

For starters...

I'd advise you to...

Stop doing it! :-)

Then...

"How do I get around that?"

Begin following *ONE* and only *ONE* system, Wallace D. Wattles' "system" *EXACTLY* as *HE* wrote it.

Then...

And this is *EXACTLY* what I did that, looking back, made all the difference in the world...

Mentally decide *EVERYTHING* you've *EVER* heard or read is "wrong" or at least "flawed" in some way, begin reevaluating *EVERYTHING* you've ever learned within the framework of that *ONE* "system", and *ACT* on your newfound "wisdom".

That's my advice...

I hope it helps. :-)

I'll answer more of your questions in upcoming blog posts or Constructive Science Newsletter articles...

Stay tuned! :-)

To your success,

Tony
