In a previous post (What is Success? - Part 1 of 2), I shared with you Wallace D. Wattles' definition of success:
"Success is becoming what you want to be..."
Notice, if you will, Wallace D. Wattles did *not* write...
"Success is 'being' what you want to be..."
Wallace D. Wattles wrote...
"Success is *becoming* what you want to be..."
The second key word in Wallace D. Wattles' definition of success (see What is Success? - Part 1 of 2 for the first) is *becoming*...
Success is *BECOMING* what you want to be.
"Becoming" implies being in the process of, rather than that of having already arrived. In other words, success is a process *not* a result.
In Chapter 1 (The Right to Be Rich) of The Science of Getting Rich, Wallace D. Wattles writes:
"The purpose of life for man is growth, just as the purpose of life for trees and plants is growth."
Wallace D. Wattles goes on to say this, in Chapter 1 (The Right to Be Rich) of The Science of Getting Rich:
"Trees and plants grow automatically and along fixed lines; man can grow as he will. Trees and plants can only develop certain possibilities and characteristics; man can develop any power which is or has been shown by any person, anywhere."
"Man is formed for growth, and he is under the necessity of growing."
"It is essential to his happiness that he should continuously advance."
"Life without progress becomes unendurable, and the person who ceases from growth must either become imbecile or insane. The greater and more harmonious and well-rounded his growth, the happier man will be."
So...
If you're *becoming* what *YOU* want to be...
Not what I want you to be...
Not what someone else wants you to be...
Not what you think you want to be because someone else is...
Then...
You're a success, right now - *TODAY*!
For example...
If what you really want to be is a teacher and you're in the process of becoming a teacher, you're a success.
However...
If what you really want is to be a teacher, but you're a lawyer because that's what you're father wanted you to be or because that's what you thought you wanted to be because of the money you'd earn and you're not in the process of becoming a teacher, you're a failure, regardless of how much money you earn!
In Lesson 4 (The Physical Side of Wealth-Culture) of The Personal Power Course, Wallace D. Wattles writes:
"Even though you are making money, you are not successful so long as you are doing something you do not like to do, and not doing the thing you want to do. The man who feels that he is misplaced is neither wealthy nor successful."
Remember...
Success is *BECOMING* what *YOU* want to be!
